The 440ha of Stanford Valley Farm are situated on the eastern slopes of the
Klein Rivier Valley. 250 hectares of our farm are part of a Nature Conservancy and are covered in a wide variety of fynbos
including a very rare Erica Shannonea. We are registered growers and harvesters of our fynbos, some of which finds its way
to England and Germany.
We have about 120 hectare of arable land, where we grow grain, lucerne and have pastures for our cattle. Our chickens are
free ranged and grain fed, some are for meat and some for eggs. On some hectars we are experimenting with growing Lavendin
and Rose Geranium for essential oils.
Our water comes out of a mountain spring at the back of the farm and feeds several dams. We are able to use this water for
all our requirements without the need to add any chemicals. This is a gift for which we are most thankful.
The aim of our agricultural endeavours is to farm in an organic and sustainable way so that even though we may take food from
our land, our land is left in a more wholesome condition thereafter.
We sell:
- gum poles
- dry firewood (gum, wattle, stone-pine)
